The Story Pirates are Making a Book!

A totally real book you can hold in your hands!

Last year, we held a contest asking kids to come up with a few sentences that could inspire a full-length book written by a New York Times-bestselling author. We got so many incredibly imaginative suggestions and it was really hard to pick a winner, but we finally settled on a prompt from a hilarious 11-year old from Memphis, Tennessee. His name is Vince Boberski and he’s an avid writer of stories and songs with a wild imagination (hi Vince!).

The book is going to be called The Story Pirates Present: Stuck in the Stone Age by Geoff Rodkey, and illustrated by Hatem Aly, based on an idea by Vince Boberski, age 11. Whew, long title! It will be published by Rodale Kids (hi Rodale!) in March 2018.

But wait — that’s not all! There’s a whole section of the book that’s  filled with tips and tricks about how kids can write their own stories. It’s called the Story Creation Zone and it’s sure to motivate kids to put pencil to paper. Or fingers to keyboard. You know what we mean!

But wait again — there’s EVEN MORE! The Story Pirates are following up Stuck in the Stone Age with ANOTHER book, with a new kid idea and a new adult author.  Stay tuned for more news and check out a video of us surprising Vince with the news that he won the contest below!
