NYC Pianist Casting 2019!!!

The Story Pirates, a kid-centric media company and leading arts education advocate, is hiring new pianists for the 2019 spring season! We are currently seeking pianists to music direct and accompany our sketch comedy performances. No sight-reading required! If you enjoy playing by ear, improvising, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy artistic environment, and have a creative flair at the keys, then you may be a fit to join us at Story Pirates!

The Story Pirates take stories written by kids and adapt them into sketch comedy pieces performed by some of New York’s finest comedians. A Story Pirate Pianist’s primary job is to provide the incidental accompaniment to these pieces, a la SpongeBob or Looney Tunes. This position is gig-based, with performances primarily during in-school hours.

FAQs

Q. When and where do the Story Pirates perform?
A. We perform throughout the year in the NYC area as well as across the country. We also have an LA branch.

Q. Is being a Story Pirate a paid position?
A. Yes, BUT it's not very much. You should only do Story Pirates because it's something you enjoy doing.  If you're doing it for financial reasons, you will be disappointed.

Q. Is training paid?
A. No, however, once you're trained as a Story Pirate we work entirely around your schedule.  You only get cast in shows for which you've told us you're available.
