Original Stories

My Principal Ate a Worm

Jonah, age 9, Michigan

I was at school and we had an assembly where the principal Ate some worms. First he ate a fake worm and the kids were like boo. He couldn’t trick us. He ate like three real ones. Everyone was like “ewww, eww, ewww” When he ate them. I was shocked it was weird. I mean who would want to eat a worm? I could see his face. It was like he wished this never happened. I never thought this would happen. I was laughing. I thought I was going to faint. He was eating and eating until he stopped. Then he had to get a drink Maybe he said I will never eat a worm again. It was like the worms were having a party. And a party is fun. I love parties but I would not like to have a worm party in his tummy. That would be silly. The worms we’re having a blast at the party in his tummy they were jiggling and juggling until they Ate and ate cake until they fainted. If I was the principal I will never eat a worm. I’m going to imagine that the warms were Having A blast like a jelly belly time until all the kids at the assembly k
were screeming and interrupted the party. my ears Were Killing me from the noise. I thought I was going to have a ear infection. The end.

Backstage Dream

Thuy, age 10, New York

This is Dara Starfield. She is a new helper behind the stage of Grindoll Studios. She wants to be an actor, but she was always second best next to Juno Wolfcollar, who was always stealing her spot as the bad guy when she auditions (not purposefully!) She knows her best shot is behind the stage, where things like what’s about to happen happens.

“Dara, come help me find the rest of the costumes!”

“Coming, Joe!”

“Dara, come help me with the lights!”

“Just a minute, Luna!”

Yep, things were pretty busy at Grindoll Studios (c), especially on opening night. As Juno got ready to play her part, Dara marveled once again at how calmly she did it. Dara wished she could play Hera in The Story of Apollo & Artemis.

One hour later, the crowd clapped loudly. It was time for the intermission. As Juno came out from the stage, her high heel snagged one of the wires. Juno tripped and fell. “Juno, are you ok?!” “Should I get an ice pack?”

“I’m mostly fine... but twisted my ankle!” Juno announced. “Someone needs to replace me!”

“I’ll do it!” Dara said. “I know this play like the back of my hand!”

“We don’t need *that much* drama” said Luna.

“No guys, I’m serious, I auditioned, remember?”

A chorus of “ohs” and “rights” followed.

“Whatever, I can do this.”

Another hour later, there was more clapping. Dara came from behind the stage.

“You were wonderful!” cried Juno. “I’ve got an idea. How about we work together! I’ll do the first part of the intermission, and yo do the other.”

“Great idea!”

Draw Loofah

Help Loofah find her look! Like all of the inhabitants of her home planet, Loofah resembles a loofah... you know, like the sponge you might use for showering. But... Loofah is shape-shifting, and of course, her face can change based on her mood. Loofah wants to see how YOU picture her when you listen to the episodes while she chooses a more permanent look. Encourage your kids to be as creative and silly as they want, and draw Loofah how they see her. You can post your kids' drawings on Twitter or Instagram with #DrawLoofah by November 26th. If your profile is private, send us a message or we'll miss it! Drawings will be judged by Story Pirates artist, Camilla Franklin and the winner will gain access into our brand new creators club!
