Can A Beard Fall Off?
Zyra, age 7, Kenya
One day asked my dad, “Can a beard fall off?”
He said, “You’re late for school, the bus has all ready gone. Now you have to walk to school.” So, I walked all 14 miles to school.
On Tuesday I asked my dad again, “Can a beard fall off?”
And he said, “Feed your dog, it’s probably waiting for its food.” I noticed that some of the hairs on his chin were gone.
I asked him on Wednesday, “Can a beard fall off?”
He said, “It’s time to eat your breakfast, not to ask a question.” I noticed again that some of the hair on his chin fell off.
On Thursday, I asked my dad yet again, “Can a beard fall off?” And he said “You’re not supposed to be up right now, go back to bed for two more hours since you did not get up at the right time.” I noticed once again that his beard was almost gone.
On Friday, I asked my dad again, “Can a beard fall off? “ He said nothing.
On Saturday, I asked him again, “Can a beard fall off?”
He said “I’m too busy right now, ask your mom.”
On Sunday, I asked him again, “Can a beard fall off?” And he said, "Why are you asking me this question everyday?”
I said, “Because you aren’t answering my question.” I walked to the bathroom because I needed to use the bathroom, and I followed a trail of hair to the bathroom.
Once I was done using the bathroom, I saw my mom with a new beard and a glue stick in her hand. I said, “Can a beard fall off?”
She said, “I don’t know, but for now I think yes.”
Then I asked by dad, “Can a mustache fall off?” And he said, “Not again.”
